A Few Questions About Options When Buying A Computer?

December 9th, 2009

first i’ll tell you what we’re going to be using the computer for most of the time…
me and my sister just use the computer mainly just for surfing the web, music, videos, sometimes i make videos, sometimes i record my own audio. my little brother also plays computer games, not often, but occasionally.
my parents use it for mainly surfing the web as well.
alright, so i was just skimming through the options that dell offers when buying a computer, and there are a few questions that came up in my head (questions like, is so and so worth the extra $50 bucks etc)
and here they are:
1) The computer comes with an intel pentium dual-core E5200 precessor (2MB L2, 2.5GHz, 800FSB). But an optional Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 (3MB L2, 2.93GHz, 1066FSB) at $120 more, is it worth it?
2)The computer comes with windows vista home basic, but has optional vista home premium at $40 more, is it worth it?
3) Comes with a Integrated Intel® GMA x4500 Graphics, but an optional ATI Radeon HD 3450 256MB at $50 more. How noticable will the difference be and is it worth the extra price?
4)The computer doesn’t come with speakers, but they offer “Dell A525 30 Watt 2.1 Stereo Speakers with Subwoofer ” for $50 bucks, do you think its a good deal? 50 bucks for speakers with a subwoofer?
i think that’s all.
i’m just asking this because they are all upgrades i’m considering, but at the same time, i don’t want to get them if its not worth it because i don’t want my parents to spend too much on our computer.
thanks

How Do I Get Rid Of Voice Advertisements In My Computer?

October 19th, 2009

3 months ago I had my computer recently out from 12 viruses. It was fine at first, but now I think im seeing signs of viruses again. I don’t surf the net often, and the sites i do go on have never gave me viruses before so I think they’re safe. Yet I still get annoying advertisements that like advertise for something with a voice. For ex: a voice would say “congratulations! you have won a free blahblahvblah” out loud. or hour long voices advertising or just talking about dumb stuff! even when i close all my programs, it still plays annoying ads..
I scan my computer with malwarebytes, and they do go away, but always come back. Now it’s even worse, audio from the episodes i downloaded years ago are playing the audio outloud, even if i didn;t open it.. I’m starting to get a bit worried. Could this be a virus? Are there any ways of removing the annoying adds for good?
Thanks in advance, any tips or suggestions are appreciated. :)

Is This Type Of Computer Too Much For What I Want To Do?

October 15th, 2009

I am a non gamer. In the future, maybe, I would like to probably play a game or two. However, I am sure it wouldn’t be frequent at all.
I know what you guys are asking. What do I use the computer for? Well, I like to basically surf the net. I like to download music and videos. I like to play card games like poker stars, full tilt poker, yahoo spades, etc and I love to listen to music via the computer :bounce: .
With all of these things in mind, do I really need an i7 or is it best to get a quad core? Here is the computer I have in mind. Is is overkill??
HP Pavilion Elite m9600t series
Operating system Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-920 processor (2.66GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache with QPI Technology)
Memory 6GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs]
Hard drive 500GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
Graphics card 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4350 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter]
Primary optical drive LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
Networking Integrated 10/100/1000 (Gigabit) Ethernet, No wireless LAN
Front Productivity Ports 15-in-1 memory card reader, 2 USB, 1394, audio
Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio
Speakers Logitech X-540 5.1 stereo speakers
Keyboard and Mouse HP multimedia keyboard and HP premium laser mouse
Productivity software Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
Security software Norton Internet Security(TM) 2009 – 15 month
I am trying to figure out if I am over doing it. If I am, their is a quad core computer from hp that has very similar configurations at 2.66 ghz. All I want is a fast computer that will allow me to do the above effortlessly.

October 10th, 2009

Is it possible to use an HD LCD TV on my computer for everyday use?
I am thinking about purchasing an HD LCD TV for my computer to use as a monitor. There is currently a 17 inch LCD monitor connected to my PC and I also have my PC connected to my TV through the video Card. I can watch Videos and play Games on my PC using my TV but I cannot surf the Web or view documents on my TV because it is too distorted.
