Learning to scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia, back in the year 2000. We had a 1 week training course including 9 dives on a liveaboard which moved between different reefs. Video includes parts of the PADI open water certification including navigation, removing mask. Lots of fish, turtles, corals and other amazing underwater life. Fran is wearing pink fins, and Neil has odd blue and green fins. The last two minutes show some library footage from Cairns Dive Centre.
This combined course will teach you everything you need to know if you want to become a Lifeguard, whilst giving you all the skills you need to be a great surfer! For more information, check here www.iwishgapyear.com
We will be visiting Cairns, Australia for a day and want to do a simi-submersible tour of the Great Barrier Reef. I have identified several tour companies that will leave from the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns. The companies that I have found are:
— Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises
— Reef Magic Cruises
— Sunlover Reef Cruises
— Great Adventures Outer Reef & Island Cruises
— Quicksilver Cruises
I would like a tour leaving from the Reef Fleet Terminal as it will be walking distance from our hotel. Also, are tours going to Green Island the same as or as good as those going to other places like Agincourt Reef??
We are not interested in scuba or snorkel, just seeing the reef and maybe some beach time if the weather is nice (1/30/2009). Advice??
We are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary in 2008. Our Honeymoon was an adventure trip with Whitewater rafting, horsebackriding, hiking, etc. We would like to do those things in Australia this time around as well as scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef etc. When is the best month to go for best price, not during jellyfish season of course, and when it is warm around the 80’s to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Is there any particular area of Australia/ New Zealand we should go? What areas can’t be missed? I want to plan ahead to have the best trip ever!
Travelling there later this year, was trying to get some ideas of what I would like to do out there. I am a big sports fan so anything along them lines would be great. Also would love to do scuba diving at the great barrier reef, that is a must. Thanks.
