I have been to the Bahamas and that’s OK. I would take suggestions for that area too. I have heard that south of Cancun and also Belize are good, all on the Gulf. I would love a little beachside resort where you can just mosey outdoors to snorkle, no scenes from that open water movie where they get dropped off at some reef in the ocean and forgotten. I love to snorkle. Scuba diving gives people headaches and nosebleeds and goes to more dangerous areas. I just want to see colorful fish and fans. That’s all I want to do on vacation.
I do have a passport. I have always drempt of going to Cuba too. I heard Isreal is an undiscovered snorkle spot. Thanks.

We are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary in 2008. Our Honeymoon was an adventure trip with Whitewater rafting, horsebackriding, hiking, etc. We would like to do those things in Australia this time around as well as scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef etc. When is the best month to go for best price, not during jellyfish season of course, and when it is warm around the 80’s to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Is there any particular area of Australia/ New Zealand we should go? What areas can’t be missed? I want to plan ahead to have the best trip ever!

All you must have to body surf is your body, but a good set of swim-fins is a major help. There are swim-fins designed for body surfing.
The idea is to swim toward the shore and let your body be picked up by the energy of the wave.
You want to position yourself in the surf right along the outside surf line (where the waves begin to break). As the wave approaches the beach the bottom of the wave begins to come in contact with the sand/rock/bottom, as it does the bottom of the wave begins to slow and the top gets steeper until it “breaks.” You want to be in position at the spot just before it breaks.
Swim as fast as you can toward the shore until you feel the wave begin to carry you. Once you feel yourself being pulled by the wave move your arms back along your sides and steer by dipping you shoulder in the direction you want to go. Let the wave carry you as far as it can–have fun.

I’m going to Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize on a vacation and want to include a day of scuba diving in the reefs, I’ve never scuba dived before and am looking for a Resort Course option that will get me some good reef views. I’m leaning towards Belize but am finding a hard time gathering information from searching websites.

Me and my friend are trying to learn surfing while we work in Silicon Valley for a year.
We were advised to start at Cowells in Santa Cruz, which a really good place catchable waves, we even took a lesson there. The only problem is there are waves of reasonable height very rarely there, even for beginners.
We tried Lindamar in Pacifica which is said to be a beginners place as well and there are more waves, but here the waves break in a manner that we can’t really catch it or they’re just to big for us.
Can anyone recommend another place we should try? Is it a good season at Cowells now or is it going to be better?
