Scuba And Snorkelling In Egypt?

We’re looking into going on holiday this summer to Egpyt, by the Red Sea (Marsa Alam) with the intention of a relaxation holiday on the beach, with the possibility of snorkelling and scuba diving. We recently went to the Maldives, and loved how the coral reef was so close to the beach, that you could simpy snorkel from the beach. I was wondering however, in Egpyt are there fish and coral reefs close enough to the beach to swim to, or would we have to go on a boat every time we wanted to see the fishes?

Egypt is great, i suggest you get on a boat too see beautiful fish although there are plenty of fish on coral reefs there
