For a must it has to be warm so Britain is out of the question Money is a problem so consider air fare and cost of living. Or should I jack in the idea and leave it to dream about?.

Tony, go to either Tarifa or El Palmar in Spain. Fly to Gibraltar, or Jerez (or Malaga). A nice place to stay is Vejer.
It’s dead cheap but warm and there are some great Atlantic swells.
Good luck, and catch the wave.
Edit – I just found this, I don’t know if it will help but it has info, videos and some packages/prices http://www.winterwaves.com/

Some care homes do excursions to Skegness and Blackpool. Ask your nurse next time she is changing your colostomy bag.

Personally I’m going to book with these people. http://www.surfsouthwest.com
They’re in North Devon so if money is an issue, sod the weather & go for it!

First thing to learn is how to pop up onto your board then find yourself some nice learner waves. Croyde in devon can be good. I learnt on a longboard which is easier to catch little waves.
Just keep paddlign out and take the tumbles :) don’t lose your temper or fight the waves futile.
