Where To Surf In Perth, Wa?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 at 10:52 am
I have recently moved to Perth and really want to learn to surf. I am pretty much a complete beginner ( i have surfed a few days only about 2 years ago). Which is the best beach nearby for beginners to learn?
Any advice/tips would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Trig beach!/ point
They run lessons down at trig all the time
A few tips for when you are learning
Be patience..surfing isn’t all about catching waves and standing up , these things take years to perfect and don’t be angry at yourself if you make mistakes..everybody has learned at some point
Get yourself the longest board possibe or even a foamie over 7 foot the better…who cares what other people say, the foam board is the quickest and easiest way to learn
Don’t ever use you knees and elbows to get up..that is bad habits that can make your surfing experiance not very enjoyable, i will try and explain this as best i can…at work we use a three step program for standing up and treversing
Step one is correct position on your board with you body position directly centre of your board with the tips of you toes just touching the back of the board…following that correct postion your arms have to be positioned like “chicken wings” directly bollow you shoulders or besides your rip cage
Step two…Now this is the hardest step to explain…you already have your arms in chicken wing position now it’s time to bring you knee up and off the board but keeping your heel on the board(sorry it’s to hard to explain)
Step three is pusing up with your arms and your foot at the same time whilst bring the front fooot forward and positioning it directly uder your chest..making sure you are holding onto the board until you reach your feet..you should be stading up haha
woah i have typed alot..just remember don’t use your knees and elobow to reach your feet and always look up and don’t consentrate on your feet…always look up towards the beach

This is in AU, so you should have plenty of resources. You need to network with the locals and figure out how make friends with them. Ask them to paddle out. Everybody is down to paddle out once you get into a friendship etc.
Tell The Signal Drivers to holler at ya boi=)
