Where Can I Find A Good Surf Camp In Hawaii?

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 at 11:03 am

Looking for a decently-priced surf camp in Hawaii (any island) to learn to surf for about a week with good instructors.
I’d be going during the winter months so it would have to be something on the north shores of the islands where the waves are biggest.
Thanks

WAIT! You just said that you are learning how to surf on those HUGE waves on the north shore in the winter. I think you hit your head on something. Experienced surfers have trouble and die trying to charge Pipeline and Back door and breaks like that. ABSOLUTELY NO BEGINNER SHOULD EVEN BE IN THE WATER WITH THOSE KINDS OF WAVES.
Just about every place you go in hawaii has surf lessons. They are all the same price (unless the hotel you are staying in has surf lessons. They usually go for a lot more though). Just get the best surf camp that you can (Away from the north shore). The surf instructors wont let you surf out there anyways, so you would be wasting your time trying to find a camp that would let you surf the big waves.

I totally agree with Jason M. Are you crazy? You are “just learning how to surf” and yet you want to surf North Shore during the winter swells? LMAO, Oh yeah sure, and you think that a authentic “surf instructor” will allow you, a “non – surfer” to “learn how to surf” at North Shore during the winter swells? LMAO, No offense but perhaps before you take on North Shore you should at the very least learn how to surf somewhere else, that has smaller, less powerful waves, ya think? =P Good Luck!

North Shore winter waves are for experts only – NO KOOKS!
