   It is very cold at our beaches in Dec & Jan. You’ll need to wear a full body suit. Here are 2 links.

   Surfing in SoCal in winter isn’t good: Rains cause all kinds of bacteria to flow in the water, making you sick. And since our water currents come from Alaska, the water isn’t warm at all (about 55 degrees). You’ll need a full wetsuit.
   This isn’t Hawaii, but if you really must take some lessons, Huntington Beach is probably the best place.

   water is very cold.. be sure where ever you go you have a wet suit, otherwise hypothermia is a certain. and that will ruin your day, for sure! I don’t think too many places offer surfing lessons during the winter months.

   torrance or redondo beach
   the terranea resort in palos verdes has lessons too but it’s SUPER expensive

   I would highly not recommend surfing in the winter. Too cold!
