Are There Any Decent Surf Spots Around Fort Myers, Fl?

I really want to learn how to surf, but everyone knows Fort Myers Beach has some of the most pitiful surf on the Gulf Coast.
I even have a surf board! I’ve been waiting for a hurricane, but they never seem to come anymore. 
Anyway, if anyone knows of the closest place to go for a place to learn how to surf please tell me.

Hey man its cool that you wanna learn but I suggest you don’t learn during a hurricane..You will get tossed around even if it is on the Gulf and essentially you wont have any fun.
I know the gulf gets horrible surf…but just keep checking the surf cams and what not. Il post a link for a website where you can check the swell in that area..all you need is ankle high to get aquatinted with your board and the concept of surfing.

basically florida is dirt for surfing, haha how did kelly slater the best ever get so good coming from coco beach then?
